The lightest
Have you ever wondered how light a city bike can be? Probably not, but it just so happens we've been thinking about it. And since we like to test everything in practice, we built a bike that wasn't limited by reason or moderation. Rafał personally took on the project – he designed the frame, which was made for us by master Rychtarski. If that name doesn't ring a bell, it's time to catch up. Lech Rychtarski is a former track cyclist, but above all, a legendary frame builder. He built frames for the Polish track team and numerous clubs, and has run his own company for 36 years. He makes custom frames from steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber for clients around the world. He also designs special projects for us, so we had no doubt he was the perfect fit for this project. See the belt-driven bike from Rychtarski And if you're interested in a more affordable fixed gear bike, we can build one for you based on our single speed .Frame
We decided to combine a steel frame with a carbon fork. The base construction was triple-butted Columbus MAX tubing and a fork from the same manufacturer. We selected the geometry for fast, aggressive city riding. We chose a subdued color and finish – this bike doesn't need to shout its presence with bright hues. Our only extravagance was the "triple triangle" layout – the rear triangle stays rest on both the seat tube and the top tube, creating a distinctive shape.
Wheels
The second most important element were the wheels. The hubs , branded with the Antymateria logo, were supplied by Mack, while the rims were supplied by our Warsaw neighbors at Dandy Horse. The connection between them is provided by proven Sapim Laser spokes and Sapim Secure Lock nipples. We laced them with the utmost care using a strain gauge and wrapped them in Continental GrandPrix 4000s II tires in size 700x23c. For both wheels, we opted for the proven 3-cross lacing system – the bike is not only lightweight but also suitable for urban conditions.
Drive and accessories
The crankset and bottom bracket are Miche track-ready products, and the chain is an Izumi component. We built the bike as a true fixed-gear bike without brakes, but both the frame and rims are compatible with singlespeed conversions. A set of brackets and handlebars from Deda completed the package. We wrapped it with Cinelli Histogram tape, and the icing on the cake is a stunning Cambium C15 saddle from the iconic Brooks brand.
The result? 6,990 grams! Can it be lighter? Absolutely! We could have used carbon fiber stems or wheels, but following this logic, the entire bike could be made of carbon fiber, and a city bike must meet another important requirement. It must be classy, and a space racer straight out of Star Trek simply isn't our style. The Rychtarski was meant to be, above all, a showcase for our abilities and dreams, and it does that job brilliantly. What will we do with it? Like every Antimatter bike, the "Rychtar" is for sale.
Frame size is 56.
Price? 9999 PLN.
PLN 1.5 per gram for such a bike is probably a good deal.
We invite you to view and test it at our headquarters at Skolimowska 6/16.
