Okay, I know that's a lot of money for most people. However, that doesn't change the fact that gravel bikes are quite expensive for many reasons. Road-specific components, high demands on weight and durability, and finally, fashion, which keeps those prices low. Therefore, a gravel bike priced under 6,000 PLN won't be a perfect or well-equipped bike. It's more of a balancing act, bordering on serious technical flaws. However, you can spot some interesting options – today I'll tell you how to do it without getting stuck.
Aluminum frame, carbon fork
This is the best setup in this price range. Light and stiff, but thanks to the carbon front end, it's not a killer for your wrists. Carbon isn't a good choice, even for the biggest bargains, but steel... hmmm. It happens, but it won't be good steel. Low-quality, unbutted tubing will be simply heavy, making it look rather clunky. A straight head tube (without tapering) also translates to poorer handling. Like carbon, it requires a larger budget, though we think it's worth it. Our steel gravel bike offers a completely different ride quality, although you do have to spend a bit more. As I mentioned, gravel bikes up to 6,000 PLN are unfortunately compromises.

Pay attention to the brake mounts – if you plan to upgrade your bike in the future, it should be flat mount. Also, check what tires the frame will accept. 42c is a reasonable minimum.
What gravel bikes are available for 6000? Not just Shimano Sora.
This is the most popular groupset for this budget (and not only that). It's a good, proven groupset. It offers decent smoothness, reliability, and affordable components, although the relatively stiff cassettes may be insufficient for typical off-road or mountain riding. There are also bikes with Claris, which, for all its advantages, is significantly inferior to the groups above it. I found several offers for bikes with a 1x10 Microshift drivetrain. This is certainly an interesting proposition – contrary to popular belief, the company's higher groupsets perform quite decently, although in my opinion, they are a bit rubbery. Nevertheless, the price-to-quality ratio is good. The drawback is certainly the availability of parts – a breakdown on the road can be a significant problem.

It's very rare to find a gravel bike for under 6000 PLN with the entry-level Shimano GRX in 2x10 configuration. While it's significantly inferior to the 11x10 version, it's still by far the best you can buy in this budget. It not only offers a wider gear range but also hydraulic brakes, which offer a completely different level of performance and modulation than any mechanical option. This is a great choice, provided you don't compromise on other options. With such bikes, carefully check the specifications for overall weight and wheel quality.
Hunt for bargains
As you can see, there's a significant difference in quality here. So I wouldn't rush things. With a little luck and patience, you can snag something much better than your average gravel bike for under 6,000 PLN. Take the aforementioned GRX bike, for example. You could also try a used bike. In that case, you'll jump a notch or two higher and might even find something carbon or equipped with a full-fledged 1x11 drivetrain and hydraulic brakes. However, deals sell out quickly, and many gravel bikes are in terrible condition. However, if you're vigilant and cautious, you should be able to find something good within a few weeks.
