Shopping by bike, Poland in the middle of the pack

The European Cyclists' Federation (or rather, the European Cyclist's Federation) attempted to assess the behavior of customers who cycle. The overall and most important conclusion from this study is that these people spend more on average. More, of course, than those who travel by car. There are also far more people who shop by bike than even shoppers estimate.

How do we rank in Europe?

The study's authors also attempted to estimate the percentage of retail sales attributed to those who travel on two wheels. Poland ranks slightly above the European average (9% versus 7.64%). It won't surprise anyone that we're far behind the Netherlands (31%), but the difference between us and Germany (13%) is certainly encouraging.

Shopping by bike, a vision of the future?

If the percentage of people doing their shopping without getting off their bikes were to double, this would mean over 1.2 billion Euros MORE shopping to carry in baskets in our country! The full report is available for download on the ECF website .
