Brompton made almost the same bike again - And still does it better than everyone else
If you showed the new P Line MkII to someone outside the world of Bromptons, they would probably ask what exactly has changed.
And honestly? Most people in the pictures wouldn't even notice it.

New carbon fork, slightly wider handlebars, shorter 160mm cranks, a further developed 12-speed version. On paper, it's hard to call it a revolution.
Except Brompton has long operated somewhat outside the normal logic of the bicycle industry. While half the market tries to reinvent the bike every season, the British have been refining essentially the same idea for years. And one thing must be admitted to them - they do it exceptionally effectively.
From the beginning, the P Line was more of a bike for people who really ride a lot in the city, rather than a light gadget for boasting about its weight online. That's why most of the changes in the MkII concern things that only start to matter after several months of daily riding.

Wider handlebars, shorter cranks, and a new carbon fork don't look spectacular in the specs. But these are precisely the elements designed to improve what matters most in a Brompton: stability at higher speeds, smoother pedaling, fewer vibrations in the hands, and more confident handling in the city. Added to this are improved hinge clamps and a narrow-wide chainring, meaning details for folding and chain retention—small things that can either irritate or fade into the background on a daily bike. On a good bike, they should fade.
Because the truth is, today's Brompton increasingly functions as a full-fledged premium city bike. One you can easily use for your daily commute, ride halfway across the city, and return home without feeling like you've made a compromise.

Brompton has long functioned more as a benchmark than "just another folding bike." And that's partly why the competition still tries to catch up to it more often than genuinely reinventing the category.
